Probashi Pictures presents — one night only
The Slow Man and His Raft
Filmed in the blazing color of Bengal's traveling tent shows — greasepaint, marigold garlands, marquee bulbs and a sea of upturned faces — The Slow Man and His Raft arrives in South Lyon after screening on the international festival circuit, from Rotterdam to Kolkata.
Nadhar (Amit Saha) moves through the world at his own impossible pace — every gesture slower than the life rushing past him. Deemed useless by his village, he is taken in by a traveling circus, where his slowness itself becomes the show. Around him swirl the troupe’s own struggles: Shyama (Priyanka Sarkar), an actress whose ambitions are held hostage by the circus boss Haru (Ritwick Chakraborty), and a company of performers surviving on wit, loyalty, and very little else.
Early reviewers out of the Kolkata International Film Festival place the film squarely in Bengal’s neorealist tradition — contemplative, unflinching, and carried by what one called the most physically committed performance in recent Bengali cinema.
Join us for a rare chance to see it the way it was meant to be seen: on a big screen, in a full house, at a theater that has been gathering this town since 1945.

Nadharer Bhela screened to a wonderful house at the historic
South Lyon Theater on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Reservations are now closed — thank you to every guest who came out
for an afternoon of Bengali cinema, and to the South Lyon Theater for
hosting us.
